Questions? We have answers:

How do I know if I'm in perimenopause, menopause or postmenopause?

Menopause technically lasts for only one day, which is the day you have been 12 consecutive months without a menstrual cycle. The time until this day is 'perimenopause' and the time after this day is 'postmenopause'. Perimenopause is the first stage of the menopause transition, which is the natural decline of ovarian function, where oestrogen production decreases and ovulation stops. It is a delicate period that usually begins 4-10 years before menopause, when the ovaries gradually produce less oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone. 'Menopause' is the day when a woman has gone without a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months and the ovaries have stopped releasing eggs. Postmenopause is the next day after menopause and beyond.

Can I take my MenoFriend® menopause supplement with HRT?

MenoFriend® supports a more comfortable menopause and is often taken alongside HRT, however we always recommend consulting with your GP or healthcare practitioner before taking supplements if you're on HRT or medication.

We provide high-quality dietary supplements and foods. We cannot give medical advice. We would advise anyone to seek guidance from their GP or healthcare practitioner if there are any concerns using supplements when on HRT.

Can I take MenoFriend® with the combined pill?

We do not recommend taking MenoFriend® with the combined pill due to interactions between the ingredients in MenoFriend® that may affect the contraceptive pill.

Can I take MenoFriend® with the mini pill?

MenoFriend® is often taken alongside the mini pill (progesterone only). There are a few minor drug-nutrient interactions with this combination, so we recommend taking MenoFriend® and the mini pill at opposite times of the day. We always recommend consulting with your GP or healthcare practitioner before taking supplements if you're on medication, including the mini pill.

When is the best time to take menopause supplements like MenoFriend®?

Menopause supplements can be taken at any time of the day. The most common time to take MenoFriend® is in the evenings. However, you can take your two MenoFriend® capsules together or separately, in the mornings, daytime or evening. It is a case of learning and adapting to what works best for you and your body.

To enjoy the benefits of MenoFriend®, it's important to take two capsules consistently each day.

How long can you take MenoFriend® for?

MenoFriend® is formulated so you can thrive through menopause and postmenopause. MenoFriend® is safe to take for as long as necessary and it is helping you thrive. We always advise that if you don't feel you need to take supplements, that is a good thing, so it can be a good idea to stop taking supplements if you don't feel you need them and if you feel you've achieved your health goal.

How long does it take for MenoFriend® to work?

The time it takes to feel a difference from taking any supplements varies by individual due to many factors including the stage of menopause, age, weight, diet and the foods you eat, lifestyle, exercise and other factors.

Can I take MenoFriend® if I've had a hysterectomy?

MenoFriend®️ may be suitable for signs of menopause after a hysterectomy. A full hysterectomy often causes a person to go into surgical menopause immediately when the ovaries have been removed. It is also possible for one or both ovaries to be left intact after a hysterectomy. Ovaries are responsible for producing oestrogen and progesterone. If you still retain your ovaries, you will experience menopause as normal.

Can I take Ashwagandha KSM-66® with a thyroid or auto-immune condition?

If you have an auto-immune or thyroid condition, or you're taking medication for these, you should consult your GP or a health practitioner before taking Ashwagandha.

When should I take Ashwagandha KSM-66® for better sleep?

Take your Ashwagandha KSM-66® capsule up to 2 hours before bedtime. This will give it time to help manage your body's cortisol, which in turn can support better sleep.

Why is Ashwagandha KSM-66® good for sleep?

Our Ashwagandha KSM-66® is the most clinically trialled and patented form of Ashwagandha, giving rise to its worldwide acclaim.

Cortisol is your stress hormone, and when your cortisol levels are too high, the cortisol blocks your body's production of melatonin, your sleep hormone. If you're stresseds, or lying awake in bed frustrated you can't sleep, your cortisol levels may be raised, which blocks your body's production of melatonin, making it harder for your body to go to relax and asleep.

Ashwagandha KSM-66® can be effective for those with persistent sleep issues which may be due to raised levels of cortisol.

What are contraindications with Ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha is a natural herb and is classified as an adaptogen, helping the body to manage stress. If you have an auto-immune or thyroid condition, or you’re taking medication for either of these conditions, you should consult your GP or a health practitioner before taking Ashwagandha.

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking any medications or under medical supervision, please consult a doctor or healthcare professional before use.

Is your Ashwagandha KSM-66® organic?

Yes, our Ashwagandha KSM-66® is 100% organic and vegan.

Are menopause supplements safe?

Most menopause supplements are safe when taken as directed and chosen carefully. We always recommend looking for products that are made with high-quality ingredients and free from unnecessary additives. Safety also depends on your individual health, so it’s best to review your supplements with a healthcare professional, especially if you’re on other medications or have underlying conditions.

Can menopause supplements cause weight gain?

Generally, menopause supplements do not directly cause weight gain. Hormonal changes during this life stage can make weight management more challenging, but most quality supplements are designed to support balance, not add extra calories. If anything, the right nutrients may help maintain a healthy metabolism, support energy and reduce signs of menopause that make it harder to stay active.

When should you start taking menopause supplements?

You can start menopause supplements at any stage, whether you’re in perimenopause (when symptoms first appear) or postmenopause - if they’re appropriate for your needs. The 'right' time is when you start noticing changes to your body and mood. A tailored approach based on your signs and nutritional gaps works best.

What does ashwagandha do?

Ashwagandha is a herb belonging to the nightshade family and goes by the names of 'Withania Somnifera', 'Winter Cherry' or 'Indian ginseng'. It has been used for thousands of years in traditional Ayurvedic health centres. It has been widely studied for its use for supporting the body's response to stress, anxiety, and supporting brain function, stamina, libido and more. Discover 8 surprising benefits of Ashwagandha.

What is KSM-66®?

KSM-66® is the patented and most clinically studied form of Ashwagandha, giving rise to its worldwide acclaim by scientists. KSM-66 is considered the superior form of Ashwagandha because it only uses the withanolides (the active compounds of Ashwagandha) from the root of the plant, which are pure and clean, unlike standard Ashwagandha which extracts the withanolides from the leaves of the plant.

Does ashwagandha help with anxiety?

Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb, which means it works by supporting and balancing the body's response to stress, and the ability to deal with stressful situations. Ashwagandha has also been widely studied to support emotional resistance, stamina, relaxation, and libido. Discover 8 surprising benefits of Ashwagandha.

How long for ashwagandha KSM-66® to work?

It varies from person to person, their existing state, and the benefits expected. Some people will feel the difference within a few hours, while for others it may be after 2-4 weeks of consistent use when they begin to feel the difference.

How much ashwagandha should you take per day?

The highest recommended daily dose of Ashwagandha is 500mg. The DR.VEGAN® Ashwagandha KSM-66® contains 500mg per capsule.
